On Tuesday night we were very excited to host our very first Pitch Night at our Accelerate Places Manchester office!
We were joined by a number of professionals and entrepreneurs to celebrate the very best emerging business minds. With delicious food and drinks on offer, it wasn’t long before our co-working space was filled with chatting and smiling faces ready to hear some amazing pitches.
Phenomenal Pitches from the Best Startups
Once all of our guests had filled up on the delicious mini burgers and chicken skewers, courtesy of Beastro MCR, it was time to get started with the main event.
With our four judges in place – Mark Onyett, Mark Sanders, Prof. Vikas Shah and Gaynor Dykes, proceedings began with Info CV being the first to take to the stage.
With MPMsim next in line, followed by UniDosh, Unique Insights and finally YellowLabel; all our contestants did an amazing job at delivering concise and powerful pitches. With just 3 minutes each to get their business message across to our judges and audience, time was tight and delivering a punchy and powerful pitch wasn’t easy!
Info CV introduced their revolutionary digital CV to the judges, highlighting how the tool could be used to not only benefit those who are seeking a job role, but also recruiters and employers who may be looking to fill a role.
Despite running a little bit over time, Info CV was more than equipped to handle the judges quick and detailed questions in regards to competitors and how the tool could be used in conjunction with LinkedIn.
Next up was MPMsim to talk about how they are changing the face of crash and stress analysis. With so much detail around how the product was using innovative mathematics to set itself apart from competitors, it was easy to see how this could be a huge step within the industry.
Once again the judges were on the ball, making sure to suss out just how much competition there could possibly be in the future for this particular product.
The guys from UniDosh then stormed the stage to take hold of their allocated 3 minutes and deliver a passionate pitch about how their UniDosh app could help struggling students earn a bit of extra cash.
Once again, the contestants were ready for any questions fired at them by our stern judges, answering all queries with ease.
Unique Insights also talked about how they could help not just students, but also Universities. Explaining how they used carefully analysed data to determine which students are most likely to drop out of university early.
Lastly, but by no means least, Yellow Label gave us a pitch, explaining how they have developed an app that can help supermarkets to shift reduced food and cut down on waste, whilst customers grab a bargain.
As the audience deliberated amongst themselves, the judges headed off to make the all-important final decision. As the nervously awaiting contestants networked their way around the room, it wasn’t too long before a decision was made and the judges re-entered to announce the all-important winner!
Our very own Mark Onyett, Partner at Blenheim Chalcot and one of our amazing judges, stood up to do the honours and announce the Pitch Night winner! And the winner of the first Accelerate Places Pitch Night Manchester is…
